i want to grow the juvenile arapaima with a jardini (in the 7feet by 2.5feet by 3feet tank) or sum sort of other arowana that i also intend to put in my pond. will it work? what are your thoughts and views? keeping in mind that the 7 foot tank is only a 'grow out' tank. i have a pond but there are 3 foot RTC, tiger shovelnose and clown knifes in there....the tank is custom made with reinforced glass and is framed with cement. very strong structure.

Well do you plan of keeping the Pima long term? Look at johnptc's tank to get an idea what you'll need.

These 2 fish mix fine. Tanks big enough for an arow, but only big enough for the pima maybe up to one year of age.

How bigs your pond? And yes these fish are good tankmates for each ither.

the pond is kidney shaped so approximately 20 feet by 10 feet by 5 feet deep. but my house has a huge manmade lake in the gulley where many fish live. that lake is like 150 metres by 50 metres. so yeh i have quite a lot of flexibility

yeh i live where the stream from the mountain connects the man-made lake. people used to fish there all the time. ull get a bite every 30 seconds. no joke. theres everything in there from giant carp, 3 foot snakeheads and big arowanas. imagine the surprise if a giant arapaima ends up there :0 fishing is now banned there but people jog around there all the time. the awesome thing is that it is literally 2 mins walk from my front door to the lake.

did u put the aros in there?

god damn... i wish sg had such a nice lake for fishing...

on the contrary Bruce... i dun mean 2 be rude... but i've seen gigas and aros co-inhibiting the same pond here in SG... and i've asked they owner bout mortality rates he said they seem 2 be fine wif each other... but tat's here though... dun mean 2 be rude... mebbe kept 2gether since young... would it lessen their aggression 2wards each other? wad's uR take on tis...
