arapaima question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
okay 14 x 14 pond will atleast work for a couple of years right. and iam not lying about it since i have to house my tsn and aros they need a bigger pond as well so pond construction will begin soon so even if iam buying a paima or not. all my fish are in srilanka they are taken care of. iam moving there next month or so and i need your opinion if i can house a paima in a 14 x 14 pond

richt

i see youre in the uk so that pond will be inside as its to cold in the uk for it to be outside

its all very well saying the size but it will also need to be a min of 5ft deep to home the large fish mentioned

i have never hurd of anyone in the uk homing a pima long term in the uk at home

my advice would be build the pond first then buy the fish

i am moving from uk to srilanka that is why i have planned to house a paima because the weather is tropical. and i wll keep the paima in the 14x 14 until it hits 4 ft then i will give to the zoo in srilanka. ive asked them about this and they are happy to keep him when he gets larger nd the zoo has more paimas as well with some rtc so i will be keeping him until he reaches 4 ft

Ok. Lots of replies and posts. With differnt opinions and discussion has been well tempered which is good.

So what will you do.. at the end of the day??

zoos are called daily to rehome large fish as when people buy them saying they will give them to a zoo when they get to big

if you are thinking about giving it to a zoo dont get it in the first place

if the zoo already has pima and rtc then chances are they was given to the zoo by someone who is doing the same as you buying a large fish they know they cant house long term

a pima ,gator gar and african tiger fish are fish people dream of keeping as not many people who can home one

dont get one until you move build the pond show pictures then people will take more notice of you

okay my current pond is 9 x 4 in some place and in other 9x 3 so it is a irregular pond. the pond iam building will around 14 x 14 or bigger i will show some pics of the current pond later as well as where iam goint to construct my new pond. and my tsn and aros are in srilanka.

So you live in the UK and keep your fish in srilanka? What you just fly back and forth for a visit every weekend.

You sound like a teenage kid with lots of stories.

His mom lives in UK and his dad lives in srilanka. It is a touchy subject. He is getting kicked out of his moms house due to his stories and is moving to his dads house.

You giving 6 different pond sizes then saying you have a 9x3 pond is what leads people to discredit you. You seem to know the answer yet still want to debate it because your mind is made up. If you want a Pima for life build a 20'x 15' and then you can house it for life. The rest is all on you.
