Won't matter. A 2-3" arapaima away from the parents will soon be a dead one anyway. Parents are protective of the young, and secrete a 'milk' from glands in their heads that the young need to grow and develop properly (much like discus parents). The milk is key to developing the immune system as well as helping them grow.
