Here are some pics of my new arapima He is about 8" long and was $100 at Ocean Blue fish store in Orange CA. My antique tank is his temp. home. The tank he is in is from, I guess the 1920's. My have been a gold fish tank. It has a drain hole drilled in the bottom,(plugged). He's in with a 5" TIG that won't come out from under his log for pictures. I've got a call to my lfs for a 55gal. tank until I get my 240gal tank up and going.

Till later, cigar larry

Nice pickup.
Got a pool planned for him?

haha yeah seriously!

Wow, a little research here wouldv'e gone along way. Good luck with this.

a pond, a pool, a small lake! 240 just wont cut it bro

I'll Keep moving him up to a bigger tank as he needs it. I'm a little bit nuts. get a hundred dollar deal and spend $10,000 or more making it work. I bought a $10,000 antique race engine and it's taken me about $100,000 to build a car for it. I'm doing that now and i'm not done yet. Fish is just another obsessive compulsive thing. NUTS HUH?

By the time your monster tank is built, your pima will be bigger than you. Arapaimag took over a year (or possibley more than a year, i'm not sure) to build one of his tanks.

They can get growth spurts and grow 3/4'' a week!!!

Just be prepared.
