Are bala sharks slow growers?

my pair is slow now it hit the 4" mark..but hey im sure it varies but i heard it takes or can take a bit over a year before they get "monster"

I also feed mine pellets but I never knew that they became monster size in 1 year?

Mine eat NLS pellets, bloodworms, omega one shrimp pellets, NLS flakes, freeze dried krill and shrimp and omega one flakes.

I have had mine over a year. about 1.5 years now.

I have two at about 1 foot. They are in a 450 and growth has stalled. I bet 1 foot is as big at they get?
I have two more at 6" growing out in my 360 and you can alomst see the growth lol super fast growers from 6" to 10". They love brussels sprouts, peas, pellet food even floating aro sticks and crickets...... Always hungry!

I guess I must just have bad husbandry then I checked again and mine are only 8" not 7" like I thought but still almost 3 years old.

I would love to have some monster bala's.

Hmmmm? yeah you would think they would be larger after 3 years? Do you feed them greens? They love frozen/thawed Brussels and algae wafers. Temps at 80 and frequent water changes, of course the larger the tank the better.
I don't think they get much bigger than 14"

I have 2 that are 3 years old and mine have to be easily 10 inches by now. I haven't taken them out and measured them, just guessing. I lost one (I had 3 large ones) some time ago and it measured 9.5 inches nose to tail.

I'm suprised by the amount of people's comments on not seeing their Balas grow. Maybe I'm just lucky.
