Are gar vegetarian?

I give algae wafers to all my fish, my trop gar eat algae wafers and zuchini piece that I have in the tank for my fei feng.

I think it's important for ALL carnivorous species to get veggies on their diet. In the wild, they eat smaller herbivorous fish and that's how they get their share of veggies. I found that carnivourous fish with regular veggies diet are less likely to get sick.

Interesting, I will try and pursuade all mine to eat veg. They nearly all eat pellets which gives them somewhat a wider variety of foods than just frozen stuff.

The gar didn't finish his meal in the end (it was a bit big for him to swallow really) :/

cool. haha. my spatula wont eat anything unless its moving.
how can that gar eat that cucumber?? oh no.. he is been brainwashed. lol

Algae wafers, depending on the brand, often consist mostly of fish. Algae or whatever vegetable ingredient is included is usually the second ingredient. So I don't think it would be too difficult to get a gar that ate other pellets to eat the algae wafers.

The cucumber is surprising though. I had (have) a pike that ate spinach, I think he felt left out because all the other fish in the tank (silver dollars and a carpintis) loved spinach.

COOL!! never Thought of That. Really. iM newb About The Fish.
just know how to take care of it. (I mean, Give him food and wash the Tank Only)
Then I Decided To Join MFK. This WEb Is Like Accesable Discovery Channel man. lol
