Are gar vegetarian?

The thing is, I don't normally add any vegetable matter to that tank. The gibbiceps plec is in the tank above and the bit of cucumber managed to get sucked into the overflow.

I suspect it took it because it was floating.

My 16" Channa marulia (which IS in with the gibby) grabbed a whole piece the other day and swam around for a bit with it wedged in his mouth. Eventually spat it out and looked absolutely disgusted and hid at the opposite end of the tank until I removed the offending greenstuff.
 
As long as it doesn't turn completely vegan:D Pretty interesting...the veggies definitely won't hurt it.
 
My gar takes algae wafers and peas as well. He's not a picky eater and would probably eat a twinkie if I dropped one in his tank.
