I'll be honest, I had to go look up what Marmite was! Google is our friend. It sounds pretty atrocious to me though. I will say that I don't love or hate Oscars. They are definitely not on the top of my favorite list. But I don't hate them. There are actually a few varieties that I have seen on here in the last few months that I would not mind having. Just to clear this up so that there is no doubt about it later on when the Oscar Fanatics jump on board, I DO NOT HATE OSCARS! Hopefully I will have one or two in the future.

I love em, they're fun, interactive and can look impressive but they're definitely a pain to keep, some might say they're not even worth the trouble. They produce WAY too much waste and take way too much space that could be used for several smaller, better looking, equally interesting Cichlids.

I didn't truly realize how much solid waste they put out until I put one of mine in a small, empty container to give to a friend. I swear the thing pooped like 3 full tablespoons during a 20 minutes drive. Funny thing is he was on a diet of Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold+ which claims to reduce their waste by 50%.

BUT if you have the space you should definitely give Oscars a try at least once. They're unique fish and its a nice experience

I have one he's around 5 I like him but when passes I don't think ill be getting another one anytime soon.

i dont see what the big obsession with oscars is to be honest. What do you think?
You haven't owned one have you? I think the people that hate oscars obsess way more than the lovers.

In the past, I thought oscars were very ugly. But I got one free, a few days ago and it is the best oscar I ever seen. It is solid dark black, nice orange markings and around 9 inches.

It is very entertaining to watch the oscar when it swims around my tank.
