That indeed is a beautiful fish. It's a shame to do what most people will do and put one in a tank far too small for it.

These fish get over 5 feet long and weigh in at over 700 lbs.

It really needs some space that very few people will give it. The fact that it's endangered makes it all the more shameful. Obviously I'm guessing, but ignoring ponds, I don't think there are a thousand private owners (maybe less than 100) in this country that have a tank that could properly house this fish as an adult.

Kind of like buying a leopard and sticking it in a dog cage.

Curious where in Ohio you saw it. I live in Tolero but travel all across the state for work. Visiting that pet store would make a nice little "side trip"! I have no intentions of purchasing one but sure would love to see it!
