OP, curious, is this a "get-a-reaction" thread?
Ive gotten away from aggressive fish because I cant stand the constant bickering and ensuing injuries. It could be an easy thing for me to ask, "are Arowana really useful?" From where I sit, Arowana are stunning. But from a PREFERENCE perspective, I prefer calm, peaceable fish.
Like i said before, what fish is "useful"?
I got it! Horseshoe Crabs! They use their blood, which is blue, by the way, for testing purity in medications....cool.

You're right haha :p Well actually my arowana is calm xD not even attacking my small barbs :o

I think plecos clean well when they are small, the bigger they get much more lazy and wait for food to drop. In my opinion plecs are still a great fish for the aquarium no matter how well the glass gets cleaned. A old sock will clean it better with a little labour lol

I don't think plecos are very useful. I mean they are not so efficient because they make more waste than they clean up. I had a snowball pleco and royal pleco in my tanks and they always had that black poop trail on them 24/7. I had some algae on the glass too and it seemed like they barely ate any of it.

If you want a better glass cleaner, get a Flagtail Prochilodus. For scavenger type fish to clean the bottom, clown loaches and synodontus catfish work the best IMO. Some plecos are really beautiful like the golden nugget ones but I just got tired of seeing their poops everywhere.

I say they are useless as well, at least for cleaning tanks... they honestly poop more than they eat / clean it would seem... if it wasn't the fact some one gave me mine, i would have seriously gotten rid of it ages ago... which i did try but no body wanted it...

Plecos are for people that well like plecos. Bn plecos will clean the film off the glass and some algae. Filament barbs will actually eat poop. I have seen it and I never had waste from my large L-600 because the barbs would eat it or spit it out so the filters got the rest. Good old fashioned razor blade from Wilkinson sword will clean glass with minimal effort.
