I'm trying to figure out a cool small aggressive predator for the new 30g I'm getting and I wanted a wolf fish but I knew they were illegal. BUT I saw that all (Hoplias) species were illegal or (Taharas) But Red wolves are not in the same specie, They are called Erythrinus erythrinus which is not the same as the Amaira or Malabaricus and is not classified as Trahiras. So could I own one in Florida?? I would really love to own one, they are perfect for what I'm setting up and this got me really excited.

I asked about rainbow wolves on here one time, and everyone said "all wolf fish are illegal"

Does not make much since tho, They are not facing the facts, Basicly what I've brought up is technical and says that we can keep Red Wolves in Florida.

Here are the lists. Find your state, copy and paste into word, and print it out for a ready reference.

Oddball, How is Erythrinus Erythrinus classified as a "Trahira". The only species I know of that are "Trahiras" Are Mala's,Amaira's,and Giant Wolves and I see no where that Red or Rainbow Wolves are Trahiras and I highly doubt at a max 8" they could thrive in Florida and actually do damage to the ecosystem. I'm pretty sure the bass would get them first...
