Are Rena Filters Any Good?

More then satisfied. The Eheim I purchased is great. Water quality in the tank is great. It is a very quiet filter. I am also running an AC110. I would recommend the Eheim 2028 filter if your willing to spend the money.

i just bought a used eheim 2028, with no media, im going to use pot scrubbies for media, and its going on a 75g. ill end up getting a AC110 eventually, but for now im going to run 1 of my peguin 330 bio wheels... i should recive my 2028 tomorrow....

I have XP3s on several smaller tanks and they've been working great. When the XP4 came out, I jumped on the opportunity to try their 'improved' filter. What a piece of junk. Worst filter I've tried in over 25 years. Their new stronger motor has eaten 3 impellers in less than 6 months. The filter was only enlarged in the vertical aspect and is too narrow to run for any length of time without clogging. I have to shut it down and clean the med and fine pads weekly.
For larger tanks, steer clear of the XP4 like it has herpes.

I like the XP3 great and inexpensive... hate the multi piece intake and the hoses could be better. Performance is outstanding however. 5 years and running!

i have had my rena for just over a year now and its great.i have no problems at all with it.and for the price its even beter
