Are these fish pure trimac?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
"Pyro Trimac"... No such thing. Someone breeds A. trimaculatum slaps a new fancy name on them... Not buying it... A pure trimac is a pure trimac. FYI the fish in the video look like hybrids.

It looks like a FH to me. I want Trimacs someday and when I do get mine they will be from Jeff Rapps.

Well obviously you need to do your home work, here's another link to put this to rest!!!

Hey "Jag" - I'm sorry, but that is simply a load of crap. Its either trimaculatum, or it isn't. Anything else is just a gimmick. Or an attempt to repackage a hybrid as something else. If they are, trimacs sell themselves - you don't need the "pyrotechnics" with the double headbang and drooly icons.

I've been in this hobby for no less than 16 years and I know for a fact that the fisrt Trimac I ever had was called a GOLD Trimac and I later bought a GREEN Trimac, I Currently own 4 Trimacs from RAPPS and they are Beautiful and a PYRO Trimac is nothing less than the GREEN&GOLD Trimacs bred together!

"nothing less...."

I really enjoyed the video you provided.

The Trimac is a large heavy bodied cichlid. It has a green or yellow hue base with the distinct spots on its sides. The male is much larger than the female growing up to 15" he has longer more pointed fins and a large red spot behind his gills. The female is smaller growing up 10 9-10" and a less dominant red spot. The male may also grow a nuchal hump when mature.

Oh no not this again!

My offical stance is if you have to ask, then you answered your own question.....Post a picture of those fish and say "hey every body look at my new Trimac" you'll get 20 replys saying great looking Trimacs good luck! Post the same pictures and ask "Is this a Trimac" and you'll get 20 replys saying Flower Horn.

As far as the Pyro-Trimac is concerned: Gimmick!
I you collect a Trimac from lake A with a lot of gold in it, then collect another Trimac from lake B with a lot of green in it and breed them you get a Trimac nothing more nothing less.

So was that your entry on wikepedia? Why didn't you add your pyro info? Because, if its on the internet, it must be true.

I agree with about 99% of what you said. I think if the OP's pics were posted in a thread called "My new trimac" he would have gotten at least one reply saying "sorry but that's not a pure trimac, it's a FH" for every one that said "nice trimac". :)
