i would really prefer not to bleach anything that i put into my tank. that makes me nervous. after boiling that shouldnt be necessary right?

It may be flat, but the egg crate is flatter and also softer, so it wont scratch the glass

boiling will be good enough i think. i took some bricks from outside alooooong time ago and boiled them to make a cave for my catfish. worked out fine.

i guess ill cut up some eggcrate to even out the pressure and boil the rock

you will probably only need about a 4" square piece. just enough where you dont have any wobble. that way even if the sand aint as high as the egg crate it's still hidden.

i think ill start with an 8x6 piece and cut down if needed. just to be safe.
