Are These WC Rio Nanay Angels...? UPDATE!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No way to tell at that size really. You can try asking the source of the fish from your LFS & see what kind of info they will offer up, but that's about the best you can do.

They are meant to be shop bred f o imported fish. It's a good shop with a good rep, Asian guy who is known for Importing good quality discus and goldfish.
I will be setting up a new tank soon and these are on the list of possibilities but not, sure, yet.
Just out of,curiosity do you like them anyway? As I said they are a nice looking natural type, angel regardless of what they actually are.

Yes I think that angel has a very good body shape and lots of potential. If you trust the store's reputation, I'd give them a shot.

Hi Ogertron3000 Ogertron3000 Sorry for the late reply!!!! Did you end up getting those angels! It’s a little beauty forsure and even here in Canada $20 each retail isn’t a bad price here either.

That one looks similar to some of mine. 4 of mine look more “altum’y” (haha if that’s a word) and 4 less so but still much more lovely than any tank bred silver. I’ll have to upload a few pictures of them for you to see now that they’ve grown so much and are even prettier now.

Sorry for all the bubbles (I’m running C02 right now) and some sad looking jungle Val (I rescaped my tank a few days ago so the plants are not happy at the moment).....but you get the idea;)

The first two pictures are of the more “altum’y” looking Rio Nanay's, the second two are of the other variant in the same shipment. That second type is starting to develop a really nice reddish/rust colour cap, I’m really happy with both types. That’s what my Rio’s are growing into, 4 of one type and 4 of the other.

Hey N NoNameLeft I haven't got any yet, still have to move house and set up the new tank so still a few months away yet. Still not sure if I will go for,the angels or a firemouth set up either. Good news is the shop has hundreds in stock and the owner has a few breeding pairs so should be a steady supply available.
The price is what's weird to me, they are too expensive by Aussie standards for normal Angels but too cheap for anything too exotic/pure bred.
I've decided it doesn't matter what angelfish variant they are, I like them so will go for them if I decide Angels are what I want.
Yours are looking great, if I got some and they grew up to that standard I'd be very happy for sure.
