Are Y'all Rich or Something?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My husband and I eat out once in a blue moon... our fish eat sushi almost everynight.. we're also both home-bodies. So we don't spend much money going out and doing things. we spend it on whats in our living space. I'de have alot more fish as well if I didn't also have 2 horses to care for. But, the fish/pets make us happier then trips, or fancy dinners, or a multitude of other things "Normal" people spend money on.

I am a stay at home mum with 5 kids. Hubby works fulltime. We have 5 cats, 2 dogs, 3 horses, 6 guinea pigs and numerous fish! And I pay for them all! Thank god for the Australiam government! LOL. But yeah I shop around, buy used, and the more people you speak to about your hobby, the more that come forward with old stuff they don't want. I have 2 x 55 gallons and a 12 gallon. I only paid for 1 tank, the others were given to me. I was given 2 x Tiger Oscars because one had HITH (he came good and I rehomed him), the only fish I have bought have been baby GT's which are getting to a good size now, and I am going to keep them. I spend much more on the other animals than I do on my fish! Fish are a cheap hobby!

My god this thread got big fast!

This thread makes me very uncomfortable. I prefer not to discuss my financial worth with acquaintances and friends. It always changes the dynamic of the relationship and I dont want to be treated differently. But people definitely seem to resent the wealth of others, and I certainly do not wish to cause envy by discussing the ease with which I buy even the most high-ticket luxury items. Its not like most folks can discuss high end watch and pen collections or the contents of my wine cellar.

Not to be rude.. but if you where truly uncomfortable about the thread you simply would not post on it. But you brag instead. And money only changes the dynamic if you don't have much for real friends. At least thats what I found. tbh the people who truely are "Rich" don't talk about it, and certainly wouldn't even hint at it on a public forum. the OP asked a question.

uhm.. what you could do is to realize that the guy is probably joking from the way he wrote.. and if you for some reason STILL would be uncertain you could check out his other threads where he shows of a 72g bowfront and discusses DIY ply tanks.. :D

If it's a joke.. I do not see an Lols ect anywhere to give hint that it is.. and I've met enough people that actually DO act like that to never underestimate the jerkyness of mankind. :D Humor doesn't xfer well over words on the computer. and I have better things to do with my time, then look threw every questionable comment made to make sure it's a joke or not. I apologize if it was ment as a joke for being blunt.. but sadly their are actually people, at least in the US that do have that attitude/mentality. Think I need less coffee this morning.:D

Let me start by say I am not hating, and this thread is pure curiosity/jealosy.

But you guys have such huge tanks and expensive rare/exotic fish and seem to buy online like crazy (fricken shipping rates), so I was wondering are most of you rich or do you just do without in other areas.

Reason for me asking is I'm nosey, but also because I am not poor by any means but I'm working on getting my first real big tanks this January (125G and 150G) and I'm gonna be blowing my entire bonus and then some. And the prices I'm seeing on tanks 180G+ are blowing my mind.

So...Are you rich or is something else afoot?
Set a goal, work hard and get what you want. What is stopping you. It all starts with being a "problem solver". I don't think it is a matter of being rich or poor. If you want something really bad, go out and get it. The only thing that is stopping you is "YOU".

For me, I have always been a collector. Started with baseball, basketball, football cards, toys, etc..... This is just now the hobby I am taking seriously but not serious as some others here. There is always someone with a elite collection and I tip my hat to those that can spare the extra funds for it.

Just remember that "if you are not a problem solver, you are the problem".

As for the OP, you are now categorized as one of those Nosy Neighbors in the neighborhood
:banhim::irked::swear::crazy: :shakehead:lipsseale:barf::screwy:.
