Are You a Brand Loyalist?

I've noticed a lot of threads lately comparing "Brand-X" and "Brand-Y".

Whether it is food, (Hikari vs. NLS) filters (Eheim vs. Fluval) or other (pumps, heaters, lighting, et cetera) there seems to be a lot of polarization.

My question is, do you tend to be loyal to one particular brand, or do you shop among all the different brands of equipment/supplies? Why or why not?

I used to get a lot of my stuff from Marineland, but their heater fiasco really turned me off. I got visitherm replacements, but they burn out in less than 6 months and had to be replaced. I'm pretty hooked on Aquaclear for HOBs. I like Eheim for cannisters.

I stick to New Life Spectrum for foods, Seachem for reef salt and plant additives if I'm not using dry ferts. Filters, heaters, pumps, lights, I use whatever is cheaper or has a better track record.

I don't really stick to any one brand for aquarium stuff. I usually check reviews online before I make a purchase to see if it's any good. For non-aquarium things, I do have certain brands that I stick to. In fact, I made a thread about brand loyalty a while back too

Now that you mention it, I think I remember that thread. It was about brands in general, not aquarium products, right? Did it have the exact same title?

I have been noticing quite a bit of lengthy debate lately over brands (especially the bigger top-end manufacturers) lately, so I thought this might make an interesting question.

i really only like to use seachem products for and water additives, other than that, its what has best revieds and recommendations

A lot of my loyalty depends on price and value for the dollar. I switched from Stress Coat to Prime for that reason. I switched from Hikari to Omega One for the same reason.

My filtration was based on what I could afford at the time so I got 2 Cascade 1500's. Now that I'm setting up my new 210g I will go FX5.

My wallet determines how much loyalty I can give.
