Are you a Brand Loyalist?

seachem is definitely a brand i am loyal to.

fluval on the other hand is a brand i despise based on previous equipment i've used.

i like to try out the other brands too, but don't have a ton of experience with alot of varied brands yet.

I'm not really too loyal either. I tend to base decisions on reviews and out of my own personal necessity. I guess I'm loyal to certain things though. Seachem I use for media and conditioners pretty much exclusively and I like Rena xp's. Other than that I'm all over the map.

If a reccomendation comes from someone I respect I will often give it a try.. or flipping over the package ( ie foods, water treatments, ect..) and it sounds good I'll often give it a whirl. personal experiances are what I usually go by... not priceing or advertising. I've found those 2 parts to be the least "honest" aspect of any "brand" I buy reguardless of what faucet of life. I've been loyal to Marineland emperors and penguins for the past 10yrs+. aquasafe water conditioner has always been my "fall back" water conditioner, I trust it where I don't trust other brands. Not to say I don't have other brands floating around my appartment, 'nore hesitate to suggest other brands to customers depending on their application. The hobby is always evolveing so it'd be silly not to evolve and remain open-minded with it.

Mainly seachem :D

You seem to be the Guru of Seachem :WHOA:

I think they're a great company. Best customer service I've experienced. I think the majority of MFKers use Prime or one of their other dechlorinating products. Stability actually works. Their planted substrates are good too, I use flourite black sand in my planted tank, but ADA makes great stuff too.
I also like the fluval FX5, eheim classics, koralia powerheads, and NLS food, all of which I currently own and use.
Most companies make at least one good product IME. I use what has worked for me. :)

I do admit that if I buy a brand, I usually try to buy stuff that's particularly from that brand. An example would be that I have an Fx5 and so the media is from Fluval. My Aquaclear will have Aquaclear products, my heaters are Stealths, etc. However, I do have some Eheim Substrat Pro and use that for media in my JBJ Filter, but usually, they are all brand appropriate, lol!

Not to derail my own thread, but if your heaters are Stealths you should look at the letter I received this morning:

I am loyal to fluval Fx5's(will not use another canister)aquaclear 110's(best hob in my opinion)and mag-drive pumps(have two that has been running non stop for 6 years and never needed a replacement part) also hydro sponge filters(cant beat them for fry tanks and they keep your water crystal clear.)some things i will change on every once and a while but not these 4 things.
