Are you kidding me?

I understand completely that some people are new to fish keeping or are not serious hobbyiests but come on a hammerhead to me that one is pretty much common knowledge

There is a difference between not knowing much about fish and being blatantly stupid. If someone mispronounces something it's no big deal. But if someone asked me for a pterodactyl, I cannot help but laugh and be annoyed at the same time.

ill just add ....i asked one of my friends to read out "cichlids" and he pronounced it as "kitch-lids"...lol

Sounds like less sarcasm and laughter and more education would be the best course of action. Everyone started uneducated at some point. Few will take the time necessary to pass on what they've learned.
Well said Mo,I'd like to know what makes the fools who posted so negatively such experts?.Should you mock someone just because they lack experience?

I like the fact that some people started to be nice about this, esp. mojo and others. Of course, people sometimes get words and ideas confused, but as a lfs clerk I always tried to politeley correct them, in a way that didn't seem insulting. I was suprised by the number of people that pronounced cichlid as "chinchilla" though.

I think instead of laughing at ppl in the lfs that don't know ****, maybe we should take the time to start our own stores and websites, to make sure people are getting the help they need with their 'pet's.
At least, this is what I'd like to do.

I agree we can all use more education and if a fellow customer directly asks me a question im happy to answer it for them to the best of my ability however out of respect for the lfs I dont feel its my place to throw in my 2 cents anytime I feel the need as a mechanic I know I would not be happy about it in my workplace

I hate stupid people. So, so much. I make it a point to inform people how stupid they are when they say things like this.
