Always the first.
In my opinion, if anything creaks, fix every thing that you think might be wrong. Peace of mind has no price especially if it involves your fish and your property. I say reinforce every seam of the tank and make the stand as strong as a fortress. There is no such thing as an overly reinforced stand.
the stand is a monster, its a SMRF, (steel moment resisting frame), all members are HSS 2 x 2 x 3/16". my fears are prob unnecessary, its just going to take me a while to get used to it.
unfortunately i wont be getting used to it for a while, need to find the leak and fix it.
I can't sleep at night with my little tanks. Don't know what I would do if I had that size in my house. Every tiny squeak, creak or noise of any kind has me wide awake. But, I have had one tank leak. I want to replace all mine with acrylic. At least then I don't have to worry as much. Probably won't work. Even sleeping pills can't keep me asleep.
