I saw that the other day at a home depot and was going to ask if it was OK to use that version of the stuff.. Thanks for the info!! Good looking out!

Home depot has Melafix? Do they have a pond section or something?

Yep. out in the garden section they have a bunch of pre fab pond liners, pumps and filters. They also have water treatment for ponds out there as well.

My bathtub is bigger than the pond at our home depot and it has like 4 goldfish in it. Melafix is Melafix so get the pond stuff because it is cheaper. Don't forget you can online pricematch from petsmart.com

If you want a hint of cost effective ways to save money on larger-monster ponds/tanks instead of using normal shelf products for normal size family tanks, check out what the aquarium shops use, ask to have a peek into their fridge where all their meds are stored. If it's a well run shop, you will see all the pond meds instead of the usual tank meds!

:nilly: :nilly:

But a word of warning, please take the time to measure and treat as close as possible as the pond meds and treatments are highly concentrated and you can easily over dose remember!

Measure twice or 3 times (thrice) and medicate once!

It is the usually the case of, buy bulk and save.

I'll have to check out Home Depot for the hell of it. For your information, the regular Melafix treats 10 gal per teaspoon, the Pondcare product treats 50 gal per teaspoon.

You know you are a monster keeper when you use pond products for your tank!

That is the one thing I am afraid of using in small quantities. Super Concentrated QuickCure is not for the beginner.

Monster tanks are superconcentrated with fish, we need superconcentrated meds!

I have seen and heard about instances of major fish loss because people don't know how to mix up QuickCure or they don't read dosing instructions at all.

:) Found the 16 oz pond melafix at bigals.com for 6.79 i think or within a few cents of that...............my local petsmart has the same thing for 12.99.....................so Here is a freebee ya'll...............print out big al's ad and buy in store at petsmart w/ pricematch or if your buying over 50 bucks free shipping and pricematch at petsmart.com .................I think that is the lowest price out there...................i did my homework:D

p.s. Thanks for the heads up ewurm.............I would still be buying bottle after bottle of the regular strenght stuff if not for the tip off!!!!!!!!:headbang2 :headbang2

or i guess you could do a pricematch wherever they do that type of thing!!!

great tip. Is melafix suppose to be a Top of the line med? I havent had the need to use it yet or read much about it. Is that the one that stains silicone blue?
