Are your fish scared of you?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My silvers and green as well as jar do not care for me - swim away for sure (my ex Jar used to beg for food though). Note they are all fairly young, less than year old

Arapaimas are friendly and begging for food (since the begining... just wiggle finger in front of the tank). The big one does not beg but does follows me around the tank,

Bichir does not care either way (less than year old) that is does not run away nor comes begging for food.

Marble pims are too young to tell though so far they tend to swim away when approached.

In general, the fishes that i had for long time (RTCs, gars and sole Oscar) always come to the side of the glass if i stand next to it. Checking out whether i have food no doubt.

Oh yeah, the swordtails, tiger barbs and hatchet fish are not scared of me ...

my cichlids arent but i think thats cos they know i feed them and when i go near the tank food comes so its all good.
i have found that the smaller the fish, like corys etc, then the more skittish they are.

lol unfortunately the most active things out of 1 2.5"royal pleco, ~1' rope, now 7 feeders, and the mystery snail is......the snail my pleco hides all day and the rope is normally hiding and the feeders all keep running away and i can never find them!!! (heavy sarcasm)
so the snail is the only one who likes me

My Severums, and Blood Parrots tend to be uneasy around me. But they have gotton used to me alot, they used to swim away and hide.

Most of my fish know what's coming when people walk into the room. The new ones tend to be skittish. The new pbass don't seem to care one way or another.

My roommates' bullhead, green sunfish, and pumpkin seed are all about anything that opens the lid

My 1" AT dats are happy when the lid is open as well, even the shy ones

The rest usually just sit still

lol....See avatar:grinno:
I love W/C's

if WC is wild caught, do tankbred fish not do that? cause my mayan does that but instead of backing off like your avatar it keeps at it for ages, like ti actualy enjoys trying to attack people

My wife can pet our oscars! She hand feeds them all. I feed them, but I just do the food dump. When we come up to their tanks at the same time, they all go for her (she's pretty cute though).

Actually, to get this avatar shot I had to position my wife to side of Zues' tank. He's trying to get some loving from her, and completely ignoring me.
