I do believe that some fish can visually recognize people and some can have long term memory, my tiretrack comes out only for me. My leaf fish is very leary of people but will occationally eat from my hand (when my tire track alows it). I don't think my bichir can see very well but when I'm in his tank with food he finds me quickly. My pleco used to eat out of my hand but after a broken tank incident no longer cares for me, or anyone for that matter.
