The 'big head' line that Jeff is talking about actually comes from cichlid scene rather than CJexotics. Jeremy with CJ's does have a big head line but it's not the same and I don't think he bred his with his red line....did that make sense?

I know for a fact that there are several spawns from Jeremy's red line out there but again I'm not sure if Jeff ever got any.

I just think that your fish resembles a red barred rather than a red Isletas. I'm NOT however trying to second guess Jeff's suppliers or descriptions. Just wanted to make that clear.

There is another varient out there similiar to the red isletas, it's the Costa Rican red face midas. The difference is the collection points. Maybe you have that varient appose to the red isletas.

If I was you I'd just be happy that I have such a great looking specimen, a pure one at that. With so many hybrids out there it's nice to see pure citrinellus.

Cichlid scene thats it! Couldn't remember it thank you. Yes I know it was not from CJ's but I was just saying that I remember CJ had a red line at one time.

Who says I am not happy with what I have? I love my Midas! I am happy wether he is Red Isletas (he's not)Costa Rican Red face or plain Barred.

When He was young he had NO red color at all and it looked like he would of never gotten any but for some reason he turned red and I am happy.

Would you believe my Midas came from this guy right here. My Midas father.

I think he sent me a Red Isletas but marked it as a Barred Midas. I mean look how red he is and Barred Midas do not get this red. What do you guys think?

I took in a pair of barred midas that were f1. The female looked exactly like yours.

You have some great genetics in your fish that's for sure!! That Big Head is a fine lookin' fish!

Congrats

Amphilophus are my favorite type of fish but these ugly as hell.

This thing looks deformed^^ Too much line breeding and overfeeding does not make for a nice looking fish IMO. I love the red isletas though.

HA Line breeding are you kidding me! This fish right here you talking about is F1 and is about 11 years old now.

Jeff Rapps bred is parents back in 1997 I believe and this is where my midas came from and look how strong of gene's it passed down!
