I would probably go with something that gets big and is a little more mellow--bocourti or pearsi? Hard to go wrong with any of his Paratheraps/Vieja too.

Bocourti would be nice. They are stunning fish and you don't see them all that often. I have owned most of the vieja/ paratheraps and all on all I am some what disappointed with them. They are beautiful but something about their behavior that I cant quite put my finger on bores me. Almost like Africans cichlids they are active and always begging for food but not truly what I am into. The fens have been my favorite though and they are pretty fun to keep. To each their own though and my lack of enthusiasm may be due to them being kept in community settings.
