Arghh DONT USE THE HOSE!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I dont know where the water actually comes from I live near a bigcity sorta but not in a big city. I did let the water run for about half an hour before I used it, my dad told me to do that to make sure the old water was gone.

That might be the problem....Id it was out in teh elements who knows what was inside of it....Good thing you did get lazy on your other tanks....Sorry for your loss.....

I use a Python...easy quick and clean.....might want to try it instead of buckets
I used the buckets to fill it the python I have broke. I can cyphon it out easy its just getting the water in the tank thats why me and my mom thought using the hose would be easier and less messy. Apparently not =(

Sorry to hear bout the Loss Ash :(

Ive always just syphoned an filled my tanks straight from the nearest faucet with my Python Syphon, an have yet to have any problems.

Sorry to hear about your fish Ash.Ive seen a few people write not to use the hose as newer hoses have mildewcide in the plastic.

Awe... Ash, i'm very sorry to hear that, It really don't make any sense... i mean a lot of people use a hose running from their sink to fill up their tank with no problems at all.
Or could you have filled up your tank with water that was too hot or too cold for your fish?

Oh.. i know, you mentioned that you cleaned out the tank, and now your starting a brand new set up and filling it up with brand new water straight from the tap. So your water has not been cycled yet, so there is no beneficial bacteria in the tank to keep your fish alive and thats why your fish did not survive. Is this correct?

oh I re did the set-up in the tank with the same stuff I just moved things around and tooke out some thing and stuff thats all I didnt change all the water its not 100% new I do that everytime I change that tank I am never happy with how I have so I am always changing how it looks but I always use the same stuff I have been using in it... I had the same water and I have the beneficial bacteria mini wetdry filter (on top of tank sits like a normal filter) ne who I dunno Its weird.

And an update I have now lost another one I put them in a 10gal b/c its the only spare tank I was able to get my hands on and my Blue Zebra has now died. I only have one left =( The 4 inch black and white dude, I never seen him in any lfs b4 so I am gonna be even more mad then I alreadys am if that guy dies!

Bummer Ash!!! Feel terrible!!!! Hope your last guy pulls through..... Wish the best for you! Hard lesson to learn..... Doesn't seem fair that lots of others use hoses and don't have problems! Sad for you.... :(

Generally speaking the water comes into the house and gets split up. It the same water that comes out of your faucet.

The only thing I can think of is that someone used the hose in a bucket of soap? and you had soap on the end?? i dunno, either way sorry for your lose....
