There's plenty of tanks here...... Wouldn't be mixing this stuff if there wasn't. Problem is there's no warning.

Some of the tanks only have 1 or 2 fish in them just to keep the filters going as they are QT and recovery tanks.

I have (2) 4x3s that each has a single wolf (1 6" the other maybe 9") in it (one also has a 8" ray in it).
I have (2) 6x3s one has a 6in Brycon and 2 12" rays, the other has 5 rays under 10" and a 6" Gold wolf.
the 8x3 has a clown knife, Aimara, 2 Mbigua, and 2 Tatf. 3 rays (16" and 2 at 12").
the 6x2 has a 12" ray and a 18" tatf.
10x4 has 5 rays (3 @ 18" 2 @12") the Brycon, Lince, 2 Dorado, Lucy, 12" Australis and a few armored cats.
8x2 has a wolf, goonch, 5 Odoe, Vatf, Black aro, 2 masheer and 2 rays. The densest stocked tank has been the least problamatic.

Beginning to notice a trend? Most people would have all these tanks packed. My biggest tank is only 750 but there's close to 4K gallons of water at my place, and I'm betting I could combine everything to 2 tanks and still be alright cause of how scarcely tanks are stocked here.

Perhaps to play devil's advocate they aren't stocked enough? I was gutted on seeing the second army, sorry to hear about all the rough stuff.

Maybe it's time for large dithers.. What ever happened to all the tor DB?

Tor were traded towards ATF, sold the Masheer, but a few made it back......

Seems maybe there is something to the population. I bet there isn't enough fish in the tanks to spread aggression.... I hope that's not the case cause the whole growing stuff out part is a real drag. IF it is I guess I'll be stuck just having a fish or 2 per tank along with the rays.

Flip side could just toss the knife, 2 Mbigua, 3 Tatf and the Vatf all in the big tank and just hope for the best...... lol.

Tell me about it, been waiting for two bala Sharks to grow big enough for my 120 but I was rethinking my whole stock, I've had them for months and they're still to slender to go in. Only reason I still have them, SD, and the sun cat, is so when I come across a gold wolf, I can have other fish so the gold isn't targeted and make it easier for my curu to accept him hopefully. But I've been thinking about getting rid of them and keeping the odoe for the top dweller, and have polys and the curu for the bottom, but I don't wanna do that and come across a gold and have it targeted by the curu and maybe even the odoe and not be able to deal with it.

Your last idea might work though. JDM style may be what you need, or to only have a few fish per tank.

Gosh. I do hope I own as many tanks as you. LOL!

Perhaps it could work to have more dithers. Also I noticed your main tanks are devoid of decorations / hiding spots. Any chance putting in a few large pieces of driftwood inside to split up the territories?

It works for me. Besides the 4 Hoplias, I have 2 rather aggressive plecos, a pleuro and the Cuban gar that patrols the lower depths.

Thanks Red! lol, that's not all my tanks though...... I've ran out of room in my basement, had a salt system going, close to 300 gallons of pup tank, several 125 and smaller ones not worth mentioning (under 70)

It sounds like I need to get some updated pics of my big tank as there's a few huge driftwood pieces in there.....

Moe it's too bad you're so far away, I'd love to get this gold wolf the hell outta here.......

I find a lot of the successful monster tanks are overstocked, or just heavily stocked. I'm like the furthest thing from knowledgeable though. I'd consider at least, stocking up on the big tank and utilizing whatever tanks you need to make appropriate sump space. I assume it wouldn't be an issue already, but having a few hundred extra gallons is some nice buffer space.

Hoplias sp "Iguaza" VERY similar to if not the same as Mbigua - had the red in the fins but was always a lighter base color - maybe just cause of the tank.

Really bummed about the loss of this guy. Doubt I'll ever find another.

Can see in one of the pics how the skin/upper lip of its snout is just gone......
