  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what do you advise feeding??

My armatus will also snatch freeze dried krill from the water surface if he sees it.I like to use Hikari's so called vitamin treated krill but have not been able to find any recently.

How long did it take to grow to the size you got him and to 15 inches?? Did you feed him alot or just once a day/once every two days?

Can't really remember as it was small when I got it and I didn't keep track of it's growth.Sometimes I feed it once a day,to the point that the belly bulges slightly or I'll give it two small feedings throughout he day.

I fed mine 1-2 times a day, silversides, then smelt and he went from 4 inches to almost 11 in 4 months. Very fast growth rate in my opinion

Sorry for the loss. I've lost quite a few young Armatus (under 6") and only grew 2 out past 12" (since I buy and move fish rather fast Lol).

I have kept the same temp w/all different sizes. 85-90* w/lots of aeration. All my current is facing the same direction and weekly 50% water changes w/Prime per tank volume. PH is around 8.2 out of the faucet.

Current Armatus is 10" and feeding shrimp and tilapia. Trying to get him on Massivore as we speak.

This is just info on another keepers set up.

the other one is now showing the same symptoms, so it most likely was not head trauma, i'd have to say it is the smelt .... very unfortunate ... not sure what i can do to bring this guy out of it .... but by tomorrow he'll be swimming loops like the last one ... this really sucks ... smelt was thrown in the garbage today, although i havent fed it since the other one died .... gotta get all my fish eating pellets ... seems the healthiest by far, then i'll try another Armatus ... i'll keep you guys posted, but i'm sure by tomorrow there will be another dead vampire .... showing no interest in food, swimming wobbly and with his head higher than his tail ... same symptoms as the last guy last week ... all other fish healthy and fine, and water params fine
