Armatus - Live Food Choices (Need advice)

It was a bit worrying today, cos the store was out of Pacus and Iridescent Sharks. So had to load up on the Silver Dollars. It costs between $20 - $30 a week in feeders for him. Which I don't think is so bad.

Oh btw, I just did a quick count, and he's already taken one of the Gourami. If he takes another before finishing the Silver Dollars, could be a sign that he likes them.

Another thing I've noticed - a shoal of silver dollars eating - quite impressive.

They're all over a dollar. The cheapest is the Iridescent Sharks at $1.20, and the Silver Dollars are a $1.50 each. So it depends on how much of each I get at a time.

wow, Bubbles looks like he could do with a diet! I think it would be best for you to let him have intervals between meals so he can fully digest his food and not store excess fat.

Really? How come?
He doesn't appear to be "fat", plus he does have to hunt for what he eats. He doesn't seem to be over-eating, unless I'm not reading the signs right.

He does seem a little on the fat side, but still very healthy looking... I have a habit of keeping my fish slim by feeding them only when they have a flat belly, nature's way I guess! But I guess it's up to you!

Actually I just left it up to him. All the feeders are in the tank with him, and he just has a go at them whenever he needs to.
Compared to before, he's definitely slowed down his food intake, but I guess it's cos he's over the initial growth spurt.

I have 3 and they are all around 40cm. They are fed 6 times a week since they are still juviniles. It's hard to say how much per feeding, but I make sure that there are no more feeeders alive in the morning (I put in the feeders before lights out).

How big are your feeders?

I've switched back to using the local feeder fish, Cirrhinus molitorella. They are less than 4cm in length.
