Armatus update

The tile is actually a very good idea IMO. If I could afford to do so, I would probably drain my tank and silicone some tiles onto the bottom. I just don't want them just sitting in there to where poop can get under them. :/ Really like the idea though!

Mine aren't stuck down with anything, just cut 3 pieces to size and layed them in. Every 3rd day when I do my waterchange I lift a corner of the tile so everything that does manage to get stuck there (hardly anything if tile is cut to correct size) I can easily clean out. And the tiles only cost me $25.

If I was to do tile in another tank, I would silicone it in place.

Looks like hes loosing some teeth and getting a new set. Thats my guess as to why he hasnt eaten in the past few days. Any idea on how long before the new teeth are in place? And when should I expect him to start eating again?DSC02663.JPG

Im gonna keep that tile idea in my fish keeping "toolbox". Its really a good idea imo.

As for your guy's teeth and feeding, it shouldn't take too awful long. Mine both normally start eating again when the teeth are in place right to allow their mouths to close normally. Takes less than a week. At times they'll even start feeding before the teeth are all the way up.

Finally! After 2 weeks of not eating, he finaly started eating again. I didn't stuff him, only gave him 2 pieces for now, and will feed again after a day of rest. I'm trying to keep his hunger up so he hopfuly feeds regularly and doesn't give me anymore hunger strikes.

Although today during a waterchange, I found both the K9 fangs on the bottom of the tank. He has new replacement teeth inplace already. Seems like when they shed their teeth, they don't want to eat.

Mine also have frquent hunger strikes from 1 days to a bit less than a week. Hope it's normal. Does your armatus still rubb it's nose on the glass? mine does that when i turn on the caopy lights. The top jaw is slightly white from the rubbing.

It only takes my armatus overnight to grow a fresh set of fangs. Weirdly, my new set has alot of black on it. Does anyone know if it's normal? Hope it's not some plaque or something like that! lol

I put mine in a jar too lol this is the 2nd set though since iv had him. He lost both fangs about a week ago when I posted the pic. Got new ones the next day, then lost the fangs again (this set I found).

Mine doesn't seem to rub his nose at all anymore from what iv seen. He's still a giant wuss though, stays in the top corner most the day but does occasionaly come out for a cruise around the tank. All night he's out roaming though.
