ARMATUS---WHERE THEY AT?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He is calm most of the time and he likes to shove and give short chases to the other fish in the tank from time to time just to remind them who is the boss....He had just eaten a half of a tilapia fillet.

Very cool, he is an impressive fish for sure. I may reconsider keeping my ATF as a solo fish when he hits 12-14" and if I can find a 8-10" armatus at that time. That'd be an ideal combo for me in a tank...

Get a smaller one if one pops up first. They grow very fast and it should reach eight inches in no time.

Anyone know if smaller ones ever pop up in the U.S. perferably Florida. Taking a second look at the sheet im pretty sure they are legal. Now I have to play the waiting game till they come back into season. Is an aro and armatus combo fine?

So what are you feeding that thing and tell us about waterchanges.

What are you doing different then we did when all ours die before 18"?????

Has to be water or diet......

LOL,definitely not the water..I do a fifty percent change only once a month.I feed him a rotation of shrimp, tilapia,or whatever fish is on sale at a good price at the market...@Karaig since yo are down in Fla. you should hit up Snookin...He is probably your best bet and should be able to get one for you or at least give an idea when they are available.

Is the only people successful the ones at public aquariums?
There should be crap tons of 24"+ ones with as many as came in over the last few years :).

Water--food---tank sizes---?

I know there are some big ones on mfk, they just aren't sharing pix or info.

Yours is at that size though where most don't make it past. I hope you update in a couple months with a 20-22" !

The ones I killed were from being spooked during waterchanges, cleaning algae, big rays... Etc [I think]. all it takes is once..
