armatus with arowana?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Armatus like to kill silvery fish though. So I guess silvers are not the best option. Silver are my least favourite also. I heard from another MFK member that silvers tend to sink to the bottom sometimes.

i just put a hoplias curupira in a 125g. Hes about 12" and takes out anything i put in there. I was thinking about putting a 16+" black arro in there, but am worried about it being taken out like the others I have had in there. I hope it would work, but wouldn't want to wake up to either of them dead

What were the tankmates the curu killed? I believe that black wolves can be kept with large , robust fish that dwell at the mid or top of the tank. I've seen people keep aros, datnoids, payaras, ATFs etc with curus.

well first my buddy threw an upsidedown cat, which i wasnt suprised when it got mauled. Next I was told to put exodons in there, because they would be quick top dwellers. I think my only option would be a bigger top 1/3 fish. I really want a black arro, but i dont wanna drop a couple hundred for bait

my view on the armatus after having 2 of them, they do best solo. evey fish ive kept with them has ether goted killed or beaten the sh*t out of them. even my lager fish that could take the blows have hazy eyes, deformed fin groth from constent rippings and stressed out all the time. even tho they dont swim up top were the aro will be, but aros do not like stress and will get stressed easy. Its your tank, money and fish but the only fish I would say would be ok with the armatus is stingrays but thats just me.

from my experience Armatus dont give anyone a hard time except fish that can fit in their mouth, or other payara.... i wouldnt think an Aro would be a problem at all as long as the Aro is same size or larger

I think aros can be kept with the wolf. I would do it personnally since wolfs generally dwell at the bottom and aros dwell at the top. The big risk is that black wolves are the most active of all wolf fish species and they usually swim to the top.

I heard that alot of activity below the arow can contribute to drop eye. Thats why its best to keep them in lightly stocked tanks.

Dont know if its true, just something I overheard when looking around a lfs recently.
