ARO FEEDING " A LA KOJI"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've fed with beefheart before to my aros, they seem to grow well.
Also fed discus with beefheart mixture, only problem is water quality.

Tried the chicken breast but it wasn't a huge success. The green attacked the first piece as usual, but didn't try anymore. The two silvers now refuse to eat anything but shrimp (which I stuff with pellets now and then). My oscar however eat most of the chicken, but it seems to eat everything that the green allows him to eat:)

I tried some chicken these days, and my silver loves it.
Won't do it everyday, only twice per week.
the bad thing is if he don't catch as soon as I put in the tank, the bp goes for it and everytime in finish in the bottom of the tank and there i go take it off.

Just a quick update..been feeding the raw chicken breast, in washed out cubes, twice per week...still, as already told, they simply go crazy for it!
Not one cube falls to the bottom!

The only one ( except my Pacmans , but those because the chicken won't even get near them) that had misgivings was my Channa. Not any more....

Maybe it's constipated.

I believe you will probably get a difference and a much bigger fish faster by using chicken considering it is lean, pure protein. On the other hand, growth hormones probably are not too good for you fish in the long run. I think you would have a nicer looking fish feeding it hikari food sticks and a mixed variety of crickets, krill, etc. I suppose if you wanted to have a huge fish this would be the way to go. ;) But hey, it is always exciting to feed your fish something new to try...and it was a good point about silver eating low flying birds. :D

I love chicken, its my fav food in fact I BBQ'd some chicken today and I forgot about saving some for my Jar. Im glad it worked out for you. I've been feeding my Jar raw Salad Shrimp in the past month it looks a bit longer and fatter than my buddy's Jar whose daily diet consist of Pellets, MW and crickets. Yup we bought them same time, same place, same size and doing weekly 25% WC.
