  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i've been using hakiri as a staple diet for years, all my aro's love it. i've tried tetra's aro sticks, but they didn't take to them. i also feed mp and krill on occasion.

I use hikari on my silver and he will not take anything else, not even feeders.
My RTG won't eat feeders anymore. Market shrimp, SWs and crickets.
it will not eat hikari sticks, if i stuff them in shrimp it will spit it out until i give it a piece without, that tells me it doesn't like them.
It must be the taste or smell. I tried tricking it by throwing the odd one in while feeding it SW, it takes it in it's mouth then spits it out straight away.
I do not see the point of staving a fish to make it eat something it clearly doesn't like.
I suppose those who own fish that "love" hikari sticks are lucky.

I feed the HaiFeng with aro pict on the can (red can). Medium size pellet, and my aro is only 7". My silver seems like these pellets a lot, but it also eat dried shrimp and sometime I also feed some of Tetra Cihclid Pellet just for variety. He seems eat them all. I have never feed him live food and not planning to do so

Nah, I don't think its that uncommon for aros to love hikari sticks. Mine took to them very quickly (although he does get more excited about live foods). Its really more like you are unlucky that your aro doesn't like 'em.

Might have something to do with spieces.
Henward has a jar which eats everything, he also has Asians (like mine) that don't do pellets. he's tried starving them, to what sucsess I don't know.

But you've just agreed with what I posted anyway.

Given the choice even your silver would prefer live food, so it "loves" live food more than it "loves" pellets.

I'm Not praprered to starve a fish for weeks just to get it to eat food it spits out, even when it's hidden in other foods it usually eats.
I may however try feeding other brands, after i've got though thebig bag of Hikari pellets I feed to the crickets I keep, which i then of course get fed to my
RTG.

my biggest silver (30") will only eat market shrimp. my black and jar will eat anything as will my little wild caught silver.

No, I disagreed and still do. You made it sound like someone with an aro that loves pellets is lucky. I disagree with that statement as I believe it to be fairly common. I do agree it may vary between species, but it is not an uncommon event for aros to accept pellets. Please don't argue semantics.

I don't mean to argee and i don't mean to arguee the meaning of words or sentences, or twist the words of others to suit my point of view.

I said arowana would prefer live food over pellets, as you did. Another poster used the word "loves" hence my use of quotation marks. to tell if a fish loves soemthing or not would be very difficult indeed, it would be like me saying "my RTG hates them." But i didn't did I? I just said it clearly doesn't like them from it's behaviour when I try to feed them to it. Even when i hide them in MS.
Further more I'll state someone with an aro that won't eat pellets is very unlucky, I have a hard time feeding mine.

Ooooh, I get what you are saying. Sorry, I misinterpreted your post. I guess we were pretty much arguing the same point, just from different angles.
