If I'm not mistaken, a third of their life would be around 16 years... Umm... Sorry. NO. The black arowana would be atleast 30" by that time. And the jardini would be atleast 27". Would you quit with the ignorant posts please?

wouldnt an african arro live in a 100 for pretty long?

The op's question was for an arowana that could live in the proposed tank for life. So the suggestion of an African aro will not work.

thanks everyone... yeah i really wanted to start an aro tank. but i guess it'll have to wait :(. so what is difference between lower and upper jaw bichirs?

What do you guys think is most important for an arowana? Tank length or width? I've seen tanks on craigs list that are over 180g, but not 6' long. I thought it said 4'. Thoughts?

Both are important. Tank should be at least 3 time as long as the arowana and the tank width should at least equal that of the arowana.

upper jaws bichirs:there top jaw is longer sometime equal to the bottomjaw
lower jaw:there bottom jaw is longer then there top jaw, they get bigger then upper jaw
