I just purchased a baby Arowana. It should be here Tuesday. Their shipping him/her out Monday overnight. I really like Jack Dempsey fish. Their are a bunch of babies on aquabid. Can I have an Arowana and a Jack Dempsey together. If the Dempsey is to small, I can keep him in my 20 gallon until he's a little larger. I just wanted to Make sure in the long run they'd be ok together.

what kind of arow are you getting?

a big JD is really beligerent.but so is a aro sooo... ask someone else.

it probably wont work in my opinion

If it won't work, it won't work. I just want to make sure before I get the Jack Dempsey. I don't know why, but I love that fish but arowanas are arowanas. Enough said.

Try it. People can give you their opinions all day long but you don't really know untill they are in the same tank. I say go for it

That's true. If worse comes to worse I'll put the dempesy in the 20 gallon and when he's too big I'll figure another solution out.

Ya try it out if one of the fish kills the other you can always buy another, right?

IME baby aros should be raised solitary upto 5-6" and then only very select none aggressive tankmates until 10-11". When keeping aro with SA/CA cichlids the aro should be 2x the length of the cichlid.
