I dont think anyone would buy an asian aro then let it go...it costs too much..and asian aros arent banned because they are pests, they are banned cost they believe it is an endangered species..an endangered species that is available at almost all the LFS in asia, go figure...
lucky post no. 888 right there..
Thats the main reason that MOST fish species are banned for in the United States. Its a precautionary effort to keep these fish from having a chance of being released into the wild. Because in certain states, like Mississippi, it IS warm enough for most of these species that are restricted to survive, and A LOT of them would be deterimental and probably very destructive to the native fish and habitats. Mississippi is just OVERLY anal for some reason. I don't get it actually, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia are all Southern states, but they don't have nearly as many restricted species as Mississippi. Some logics just surpass my understandings...lol.
You are correct about the Jar. and Lei. not being illegal. Here is the list of restricted species:

Long freakin list!! Anywho, it says bony-tongue (Osteoglossidae) are the only restricted ones. I wouldn't really risk it though, as most people in Mississippi are really retarded and don't know their fish. They will see arowana and automatically confiscate it, and ask questions later. Really don't think its a Lei, but I will go back this weekend and take pictures if they still have it to help confirm.
