Arowana attacking another..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
for my experience with best way to keep 2 aro together is need to be either:
- same size when they are already bigger at least 16"
- or 1 bigger aro + 1 smaller aro but big enough so it won't be eaten (try one 12" & the other 7")

- adding other fish will keep aggression down but if u only want to keep 2 aro it's tough, hope try these see if it works better.

I just asked petzone for 1 Lei 10" + 1 Jar 7" to keep in same tank, i wanted to add black aro but will start w/these 2 for now. Last 2 aro i had together were 2 jar & it did ok when 1 of them was at least2x size.

good luck + if i had that size tank w/that that size aro maybe just add more and take the one out that isn't working well

Thanks, yeah mine are both the same size. They seem to be doing better so lets see. If push comes to shove I will try to get another tank or take one back to where I bought them from so they can find a suitable place for it. I really hope it desnt come to that so lets see.

I remember reading your 1st post few weeks ago & as soon as i saw it i was gonna say something about them fighting but i didn't wanna spoil it! easiest solution though just add some more aros and whoever doesn't make the cut just post here in WTB :)

Here is my last 14" Jar I just sold him & now he's living it up in a much better tank than i had for him..her (i think)

thank u bro i got her locally, saw her at the pet shop & put a little deposit on her then picked her up couple days after. by no means do i have as much experience w/ most of the ppl on here tho, i just been keeping aro since i was a kid, every kind except african aro which i wanna get for filter feeder giant siamese carp tank. i don't keep silver aro anymore bc honestly last 1 i had snapped the glass on a 125g and after that i was spooked. i never had a huge aquarium but every aro i had even my asians grew over 24". my fav of all time is my 1st red, and of course my most recent Jar.

Everyone here has different experiences & keeps their fish differently, no one is better than the next, it is what it is. As long as your fish eating + getting big that's the #1. Most fish will out grow their tank just happens to be everyone loves aro!IMG_0435.JPG IMG_0436.JPG IMG_0438(1).JPG IMG_0430.JPG

Damn, it broke your tank? I have read of this happening and I honestly hope that doesnt happen to me cause idk what I would do lol. I want an Asian Aro so bad but I dont know where I could get one and I am sure they are mighty expensive.

Your aro is in 225g so hopefully you will not need to worry! …at least for the next 16 months! j/k i think that u will be fine for quite some time. Just keep giving mix food + ketapang + silver aro likes the blackwater.

When I was teenager I did a lot of work in Chicago & one of my side job was selling Betta + Aros. The silver that broke my tank was just scared for a sec and pretty much did like a violent flinch that cracked the side panel. I cleaned the water splash with a towel & like 10 minutes later i was like “why is that wet again?” then i looked closer and there it was a 8” crack which then i took out aro + had to sell him & just got rid of the tank. They say that arowana know their owners and this happened when a friend of mine approached him, I’m convinced this is the case here + yes he was very big for the tank too. My aro knew me for so long tho that I could’ve did karate in front of him & he be amazed by the sidekicks lol..i’m pretty sure :) but if someone else does it he doesn’t know them he just got scared.

It was maybe 1997 when I got my 2 asian aro, both red 4”-5” came across them 6 months apart. I ended up selling both after raising them for almost 10 years. 1st was the most super red i seen & 2nd one was closer to golden with red developing w/ age. I didn’t know anything about spoonhead, xback, tongyan, or anything back then I was just lucky enough to have them. Kept them w/ teacup ray + oscars. Would love to get another red, blue base, or batik one day..wholesale tho!

Mine are very jumpy still, lol. I hope they are fine for a while, my dream is to build a 800 gallon plus or something like that(if I can convince my wife of letting me spend such a crazy amount of money.
Also, I envy those with the Asians man, thats is fish that I am fascinated by but they are illegal here. I know some people have them and I am sure there are ways of getting one but I am sure those that sell them want thousands for them and that is something I cant see myself doing. I wouldnt mind spending a few hundreds on one but realistically not too much since most of us here can afford doing so.
I wish someone could chip on how to get one for a decent price.
