heres how to use the api fresh water test kit thats most commonly used. One note is to shake the crap of the nitrate test, it has crystals used to determine the levels and over time it settles and sticks to the bottom when it should be free floating. I shake it for 3-4 mins and bang it on the table every so often.

Yes they do I lost my ray few months back and a faulty test kit messed me up big time :( always check exp date on tester kits its not worth loosing fish over

I had an expired test kit give me a huge scare. Tested the water and it was reading off the charts. It looked to be 20 ppm and this was with the API kit. The weird thing was that it tested my other tank at 0ppm. Bought a new test kit and both tanks tested 0ppm. Not sure if it was picking up something else in the water, but my nitrates were a bit high. Almost had a heart attack thinking everything was going to die within an hour. lol

do you have any other pets in the house that got sick or died or any family members? Eherm, "They" say that aros can be somewhat emotionally linked to their owners or other pets in he house that when one dies, the aro dies after. Sounds Crazy, i know. But heard lotsa stories that were true. Just sharing. Sorry about your fish.

I've had a few, but are you serious. That sounds like the explanation to me. Granny died and so did my fish.
