Ok to all you arowana specialists...can someone please list the most common types of arowana and their differences (size, looks, origin, and maybe latin name?)...

I am looking into those for my next tank, and not sure about which one I want...i'm thinking silver as they are readily available here in Canada (we don't have those web-stores that ship fish here, anyways they would die in the cold  ).

Thanks !

Wow 12 views and no reply? Thought there were more Aro lovers here !

i Know of some. Jardini, Silver, Black, and Asian. 1 more but i can't spell the name. If i fisn the link for the ill post it. Fungpuff is selling them. Im sure there is more but u will have to wait for some1 else to come along

the main difference in aros is the price :D

arowanas available here in Canada are silver, jardini (australian), black, and most most. I currently have 11 asian arowanas, 10 of them I imported directly from Singapore. Arowanas are beautiful and easy to care for, you will enjoy them.

Heya, thanks all for your replies.

FlamingWood: Thanks!

Dimfer: You said you had close to 20 aros, do you have a store/buisness? Cause I saw you were in Canada, and if you ship fish in Canada you would be the first that I know of...never could find any buisness that would ship fishes in Canada. I'm located near Montreal, Quebec...I have a hard time getting aro's and rays close by, only once a while and you get what they have :)

Thanks!

got it for you, selection criteria for asian aros. since youre in canada, get the asians, theyre more expensive than south american blacks and silvers. main differences are body length, scale row count and color. asians have same body type as australian arowanas but lesser and bigger scales, better for color development. heres the link, the article is composed of two parts. http://arowanaclub.com/stories.php?story=03/01/06/5237963

Hi,

Welcome to mfk arowana section. Will highly recommend an asian arowana. Would cost more then the rest but worth every single cent you spend on it. :)

Why asian, just for looks or other reasons?
