One of my friends told me that a restuarant at china town serves motoro ray. Can anyone confirm this. Sorry to derail this thread.

Motoro no. They do serve saltwater rays at some chinese restaurants and they are a dark brown color with spots, so they might look like motoros. Also, those rays are huge so they are usually chopped into big chunks before serving

When going to a restaurant, ordering fish, and seeing the fish’s head on my plate.. someone is getting smacked around.
i agree. cant eat a fish staring back at at me

take a good look at the dead fish. its not fresh..........look like its dead for a long long time. yuck..........and who ever who kills these majestic fish to eat are really sick.

Almost all of the fish that get fairly big in the hobby are food fish in places where they are endemic. Back in the day, datnoids are a popular food fish in thailand. In S.America, Pacus or Tambaquis are prized as a food fish. . . pimas are exported to europe to be eaten. Perches are regularly eaten. Unagis or eels are devoured like crazy in japan. And so are fugus.

Fish can be pets and food. Granting that asian arowanas are expensive and are not commonly eaten, it doesnt mean that they are not edible. The only reservation that i have about those 2 aros is that they didnt really seem fresh.

Dayum!!

I wouldn't be able to eat that :(
