I almost bought one for my 60 but ended up thinkin it through that seems mean. Even though the aro was bout 3 inches.. The dude told me hed have to be in a tank at least 100g to be comfy.. When I can put a tank downstairs without worry, I'll buy one then buy my aro been wantin one foreverrrr.. But yea I wouldnt

The min footprint for an adult aro is 8x4ft.

sounds nice but unrealistic. A 300 gallon wide 96" x 30" x 24" is realistic.

I just bought mine MAYBE two weeks ago and he's already grown an inch.
He's in a 55g going to be moved to a 125g next and if he keeps growing at this rate he won't comfortably last long in the 125g either. Eventually he'll go in a 375g (96 x 36 x 25), and as I understand it that is more like proper housing.

The dimensions the original poster gave, as was already mentioned, is a 120g not a 60g, but it doesn't matter because neither one will house a silver arow for the full life of the fish. Either one is merely a growout.

I wish they had dwarf Aros then I would get one for my 150 tall....

thanks guys, im not going to buy one, i dont want it to be uncomfy, thats cruel

Good choice on not getting one, if ya really want on you can plan for getting one in the future. My 20" silver has been in several tanks as it has grown. The following tanks 55g, 75g, 120g, 150g, 85g, house the silver. it has always been in a tank at least 3x its length and and the width has always been greater then the aro length. Currently he is in a 180g. I am hoping to have a 375g like Shadowbass posted to be it's final home. He will live there with another silver and a black aro. Before that will happen though he'll spend a year or so in a 350 gallon (6' x 4' x 2') which I'm hoping to have going in a month or two.

The key to using the grow out method is knowing what tank you need and when you will need it by. It is also good if you are well established in your career and have a house.

too small. im getting mine a 220. thats about as small as you can go (a 180 would be cramped)
