For a silver aro, a 180g and a 220g provide the same amount of swimming area. Same 6' x 2' footprint the extra 6" of higth will benefit your aro very little. A 220 gallon tank is nowhere near big enough to house an aro in comfortably for life but will be good tank for a few years. Best to try for a tank that has a length 3x that of the aro and a width at least equal to the aro. So really a 220g is only good for an aro up to 24-26". If your tank was longer like an 8 footer, you would be good for the aro up to 30".
