Hey everybody!
Just got my perfect nugget of perfection Silver Arowana. He's about 3.5 inches? maybe 4?
Im curious as to how quickly everybody else's aros grew? I'm getting differing opinions, but these are from guys at the fish store, none of whom own Arowanas. Im not worried about it or anything, I'm just curious :)

Here are the two questions i am worried about-
I got him yesterday, the day he arrived in the store. So under a considerable amount of stress. I acclimated, and stuck him in his new (established) tank, Lights out from about 4 pm until 8 am the next morning. I checked on him at about 7pm yesterday and he was doing MUCH better, but I'm curious as to when he's going to want to eat and what i should try to feed him? I do have the hakari floating pellets and id like him to be on those ASAP. but for now I'm doing the whole "oh god just please eat something"

And. any tips on avoiding eye droop? Ive heard giving them something to look at on the surface of the tank will help, so I grabbed some floating plants for him, but if theres more I need for him, I'd be happy to buy it.

also-(totally not the right place to post) but can anybody direct me to how directions on how to upload a profile pic?

Thanks!

Yes, well cycled. Currently, he's in a 65 gallon wide. HOWEVER. before everybody freaks out, I have a 350 gallon wide in the works. A family friend (who also builds them for a living, convenient, right?) is building it for me. Should be done here in the next couple months. But for now, at 3.5 inches, I'm going to say he's fine. He's got plenty of room. He's by himself, a couple plants.

Mine went from 3.5" to 26" in less than 2 years. They grow really fast. Key to success with silvers is big tanks...really big. Start the baby in as big a tank as possible...180+ and move on to 300+ within 6 to 8 months. Drop eye is usually from injury from my observation. Too small pf a tank and the aro will panic and hit the top and sides. Make sure your tank is TIGHTLY COVERED! Arowana will escape and you'll find it dead on the floor. This is the fate of most captive silver aros. I recommend getting your aro feeding with small crickets, then move on to shrimp, tilapia, and night crawlers. Best diet imo. My aro does not get fed pellets...ever

I made a cover for the tank, actually did really well. Kinda proud of myself. I heard his cute little self jump last night too, so I'm glad I did. Its tightly covered enough that its Eel safe. my opinion is if its not eel safe, its not good enough, lol. I know 65 is super small, its going to have to cut it for right now, but even with that being said, he looks so little and lost all by himself. Kinda cute, Kinda super sad. Cant decide which. It won't last long lol, i know that much. I also know he's kindof a one man show. And thats how I want him to stay, but he's just so little and alone.

Don't worry, he'll be a food eating machine before long and lose that sad little lonely fish disposition in a real hurry. They tend to be shy and easily spooked up till about 12 to 14 inches, then they usually settle in and become quite bold. I can actually pet mine!

This picture is a mess, and it looks like my tank is too, but I assure you, its not. Don't judge me, lol. Also whats shown in the pic is about 1/3 of the tank. He's got plenty of space, but you guys. WHAT A NUGGET. I seriously get to look at that supreme pouty face every day and I'm SO EXCITED.
