Arowana Growth?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your pretty much there. It's just a matter of posting some messages, and then your a member. Later today or tomorrow youll see that "registered member" lable change to "MFK member" and then you're good to go!

Don't worry, he'll be a food eating machine before long and lose that sad little lonely fish disposition in a real hurry. They tend to be shy and easily spooked up till about 12 to 14 inches, then they usually settle in and become quite bold. I can actually pet mine!

Hey everybody!
Just got my perfect nugget of perfection Silver Arowana. He's about 3.5 inches? maybe 4?
Im curious as to how quickly everybody else's aros grew? I'm getting differing opinions, but these are from guys at the fish store, none of whom own Arowanas. Im not worried about it or anything, I'm just curious :)

Here are the two questions i am worried about-
I got him yesterday, the day he arrived in the store. So under a considerable amount of stress. I acclimated, and stuck him in his new (established) tank, Lights out from about 4 pm until 8 am the next morning. I checked on him at about 7pm yesterday and he was doing MUCH better, but I'm curious as to when he's going to want to eat and what i should try to feed him? I do have the hakari floating pellets and id like him to be on those ASAP. but for now I'm doing the whole "oh god just please eat something"

And. any tips on avoiding eye droop? Ive heard giving them something to look at on the surface of the tank will help, so I grabbed some floating plants for him, but if theres more I need for him, I'd be happy to buy it.

also-(totally not the right place to post) but can anybody direct me to how directions on how to upload a profile pic?

Thanks!
Avoid eye drop by providing a mostly insect diet a mix of live and freeze dried crickets, krill, ghost shrimp,Japanese beetles, large ants, mayflies, triops,Phoenix worms, grasshoppers, cicadas, scuds, hellgramites, baby crayfish etc.
It isn't what direction they are looking at that causes drop eye but an acumalation of fat in the upper eye.
The aro should reach adult size in a little less than 2 years(sometimes 1 yr)
