Hi Guys,

One of my Arowanas got startled today and smashed the top of my tank. As soon as he hit the lid he sank head first to the bottom of the tank and has been like that for the 3 hours. It is like he is paralized and just looks around and twitches. Has anyone else ever had this problem? His is around 25 - 27 Inches and I'm worried I will lose him.:(

mine hits the lid during feeding a lot but has never done that. doesn't sound good man. best of luck.

he might recover and he might not. it could be a concussion or even a damaged spinal cord. who knows? all you can do is wait and hope.

I hope so... 3 hours being knocked out is pretty rough.. He is breathing good and it is like he is watching all the other fish swim past him. Looks paralized to me

If the lights are on, turn it off.. Try to reduce stress... Hope everything works out.

he may just be really stunned.. let us know how he is-maybe turn the tank lights off and let him regain his dignity lol..

4 ish years ago, my uncle had a similar thing happen. We were having a family party at his house and some kids walked near the tank and the silver came flying out even with a few blocks of wood covering the lid. Aro was around 30" ish, once back in the water, it didnt really move, it just drifted backwards and forward. The next morning it was fine.

I have had the lights off and kept the room dark. My rays keep pushing him around the tank..
