a silver grows to over 5 feet as an adult... a 55 galons wont be enough. a 90 gallon for most of it's juvenile stage would be better as you find the cash to get at 180 gallon.

even in the wild, they seldom get to that size. 3' maybe 4' tops. in a regular home aquarium usually 2'.

thats because of the owner wishing they wouldn't grow big stunted them at a young age by putting them in a small tank like this guy.you need to come visit me . i'll show you a 4 feet gold arowana in a tank with a 5 feet silver as a house mate.

Can I have a picture of that. Sorry to go off topic here, but I would love to see an arowana that size. I think they are beautiful, but know I cannot get one for a long time.

I suppose you don't own a camera though, right? Largest documnted record silver arowana caught is 47".

So we gonna see any pics?

As to the OP, it is obvious that you know what your doing is wrong, as any tidbit of research on the fish would show. So why waste anymore time on you?

Can I just say wow! Really sir? But yes I can remember my first tank. 20 gallon with a oscar fish. For those of you who are monster fish keepers know the story. Had to quickly upgrade. Went to a 55 then learned that was not good enough. Now in a 75 and in order to get a cheap 75 had to re home another oscar. So fixed one issue and had another when my O did not get along with the new O. Back to the beginning. New O is in a 55 and I am shopping for a bigger tank. But now in the hobby I am a lot more educated (thanx MFK) and enjoy the fish way to much to keep them in a tank to small or not maintaining a good living environment.
Crazy guy do yourself a favor or the fish educate yourself. These guys on this forum are an awesome resource. Use it. Use us and learn to enjoy another living thing that loves you as much as you love it (even it they do bit).

Arowana are a very demanding fish. I'm a very experienced fish keeper and have had problems. I've lost 4 Aros...Do to stupid mistakes.. I lost one to jumping out-found him crusted on the tile..Lost another one due to my room mates cat.. Last one I lost was due to a crazy trimac that ate the belly out of him...they were together for a month before the incident. My point is that they are beautiful fish but require a lot of research, a big tank, and really good filtration for then to live happy healthy lives.
Good luck--knowledge is power,
Chris
