Whats the chances of my Arowana's Barbell growing back? it was missing when i bought him (got discount)!! he is 5" long and his right barbell is missing, there is an extremely small stump where it should be. He has a very small appetite too. i know that often things do grow back but has anyone had this problem with an arow and if so what was the outcome?? i have added melafix to aid repair! is there anything else i can do???

regards

steve

at 5 inch, its too small to operate on, no 100% that will grow back, usually singapore guys cut both to hope it grows back. when that small, it will prob grow back.

normally babell are not grow back especially when they are big..iam not so sure if its baby..i hope yours grow up again..update pix..

My smaller silver aro lost one of his back in May and it has slowly grown back. My black aro only lost part of both barbel and they grew back within a month.

wow..good to hear,,hopefully all aro's that lost barberll can grow back in no time.. :headbang2

if it's a small stump leave it as it is 4 now... it may may not grow back... but yes some pple try wad they do is they cut and hope 4 some regeneration miracle... personally i've not tried...

When I got my Lei in April it only had one barbel...I was not to happy at paying a total of $250 for a fish (including shipping) to have it turnout to be missing a barbel but many people assured me it would most likely grow back.

Here we are in October,my Lei has nearly doubled in size however it is still a single barbel aro, which makes me a not very happy camper.

IME if the aro is very young and the barbel is down to just a nub it most likely will not grow back.

At 5", I say your aro will grow back his barbel. I've heard that if you keep your tank dark (don't turn the light on, or better, cover it with newspaper) it will help to regrow the barbels, since arowana uses the barbels to sense when they can't see well

mine grew back so I think nothing to worry.
