Closest I've gotten to pbass was the native large mouth bass around here. I used to catch them around 3in long and raise em up till they were 10in and release them back to where I caught em from and just start over again. Still fed them all live food diets so they wouldn't starve in the wild. One of my favorite predator fish were yellow perch, they got upto around 10-12in Max in the wild but it was their hunting tactics that I loved. Ever whatch wolves hunt? That's pretty much how perch hunt, one lies in wait, hiding, while the others chase the bait fish towards the one in hiding and when the bait fish least expects it, BAM!, it's struck from the side by the one hiding and everyone else smacks the rest of the fish while they panic. It's so fun to whatch how they carefully plan out their hunts and execute them. Not certain if they can be shipped out of the states tho but if they can ya ought to get a handful. I'll attach a pic I pulled from Google. Honestly they are nice looking small predators and get great spawning colors. Once they get past 6in they start growing a slight hump on their back and get a bit of a gut like a bass will.
