My arowana has been eating very little over the past week and a half (I feed everyother day). He has only been eating 1-2 shrimp when I feed, usually he can take 4 plus some silversides. And now I just witnessed him regurgitate the 1 shrimp he ate last night.
Is this a sign of parasitic or bacterial infection?

My gar ate the shrimp no problem. They have no preservatives in them. I've feed this same brand of shrimp for months. The aro won't take silversides at all either...which is really strange since those are his favorite, he was raised on them. He's swimming sluggish, sometimes letting his tail droop a little, but still remains on the top.

In 125gal, 11-12". He doesn't get picked on at all. Tank mates listed in sig.

Going to double up on WC's, add salt, and up the temp. Anything else?

Input appreciated.

Just did parameters...
nitrite- 0
nitrate- 50-60ppm
ammonia- 0-.25ppm
ph- 8.2

Doing a wc right now since my last one was Friday, also going to raise temp once I refill.

Do you remove the tails from the shrimp before feeding?

Yep, always have. This particular bag of shrimp seems to be a bit more fatty. Some of the shrimp have a surplus of white fat on it and even float. My last bag of these shrimp, none of them floated.

Could this excess of fat be too much for him to digest? This doesn't explain the considerable loss in appetite though.... :screwy:

Have you tried seachem garlic guard or fresh chopped garlic to help clear it's system?

No I haven't. Didn't think it was anything serious till i saw him regurgitate his last meal... anyone else recommend this treatment? Would that stuff be OK with the Florida Gars? I know they're touchy with meds and stuff...

Thanks for the input everyone...

Garlic guard is not considered meds. It's potent with the main ingredient of garlic.
I feed foods marinated in garlic guard all the time, stopping at the 4th day and then continue 2 or 3 weeks later.

But, wait for the other members to give insight.
